HISTORY

The Institutional Products Division of Atlantis Plastics, Inc. boasts one of the industry’s most impressive resumes for historical performance and innovation throughout the market segments it serves today. The dates listed below serve as key stepping-stones in the formation of the Sta-Dri® brand and its mission.

Time Line:

1959
National Poly Products, Inc. is formed and begins producing film in the converted horse barn of the old Kato Brewery in Mankato, MN.

1963
Viking Plastics, Inc. is formed and begins producing bags on a single bag machine in Mankato, MN .

1964
Viking Plastics, Inc. expands by adding a single plastic disposable glove machine.

1967
National Poly Products, Inc. and Viking Plastics, Inc. are acquired by Northern Natural Gas.

1968
National Poly Products, Inc. and Viking Plastics, Inc. are liquidated and become divisions of Northern Petrochemical Co.

1969
National Poly Products Inc. absorbs Viking Plastics and they become a single division located in Mankato, MN.

1983
National Poly Products is purchased by Trivest

1987
Trivest goes public and created the Atlantis Group

1989
Printing capabilities are added to expand the bib, apron and table cover lines.

1992
Corporate office is established in Atlanta, GA.

1993
Atlantis Group acquires United Plastics, located in Champaign, IL, adding to the table cover offering and introducing rotary bib and apron capabilities.

1994
What will later become the Institutional Products Division of Atlantis Plastics, Inc. moves to its current location at 1970 Excel Drive, Mankato, MN.

1995
The organization’s name is officially changed to Atlantis Plastics, Inc., formalizing the formation of the Institutional Products Division.

1998
Atlantis Plastics, Inc. Institutional Products completes the corporate re-branding of every product category, solidifying Sta-Dri® as the brand of choice in the institutional products market place.

2004
Atlantis Plastics, Inc. ranked number 7 of Georgia’s 100 Top Public Companies in an independent study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP based on five weighed variables: annual revenue, year-over-year revenue change, return on equity, annual change in profit margin for the fiscal year and total return on investment for the calendar year.

2005
Atlantis Plastics, Inc. ranked number 14 of Georgia’s 100 Top Public Companies in an independent study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP based on five weighed variables: annual revenue, year-over-year revenue change, return on equity, annual change in profit margin for the fiscal year and total return on investment for the calendar year.
