The Atlantis Plastic’s profile extrusion unit in Elkhart, Indiana is one of the largest extruders of custom plastic profile components in the country.

These two plants produce a variety of standard and custom extruded parts such as exterior and interior plastic moldings, trims, channels, seals, and tubing.

The Plastic Profile Extrusion Division of Atlantis Plastics is a fully integrated operation capable of taking each job from concept to delivery. As a result, this division has become the recognized service leader in the industry with product delivery times among the best. The operation specializes in commodity resins including rigid PVC, flexible PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS, and some thermoplastic elastomers. The narrow material focus creates an extremely efficient, low cost manufacturing operation, and simplifies scheduling and setups so that rapid changeovers are normal. Several silos and railcar access allow Atlantis Plastics to buy raw materials at the best prices available.

Extrusion tooling is built to exacting tolerances using four axis EDM technology. Production capabilities include co-extrusion and online electronic monitoring to assure conformance to customer specifications. Secondary operations such as notching, punching, mitering and assembly are available in the fabrication department.

In recent years, the operation has been successful in introducing its own proprietary products, including Ply-J, which is a nationally known product for trimming residential round top windows. Boat dock bumpers sold to the do it yourself market are another example of the division’s efforts in proprietary products. The company continues to develop innovative products for the building industry such as vinyl fascia and fluted corners.
