ATLANTIS PLASTICS APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBER


ATLANTA, GA - (April 17, 2001) The Board of Directors of Atlantis Plastics, Inc. (ASE:AGH) today announced the appointment of Jay Shuster to its Board of Directors. Shuster served as Chief Operating Officer of the Rock-Tenn Company for the last 9 years. Previous positions held at Rock-Tenn were Executive Vice President of its Consumer Packaging Group, Executive Vice President of its Folding Carton Division, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Controller and Corporate Secretary. Rock-Tenn is a recycled paperboard and specialty packaging company from which Mr. Shuster retired last year. Mr. Shuster commenced his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Arthur Anderson & Company in Atlanta.

Shuster is filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Paul Rudovsky, the former Chief Financial Officer of Atlantis Plastics, Inc.
